October Seasonal Treats
Travel to the Haunted House and enjoy some Candy Corn from the Halloween Tradepost!
Send Shelby the eggs she requests in exchange for Candy Corn, new decorations, and special event eggs. These trades WILL DEDUCT Candy Corn from your balance if you click "Redeem."
How do we get Candy Corn?
- Halloween tradepost trades - sending eggs to Shelby, plus freebies for Premium members
- Hunting in Haunted House - tucked into pumpkins, so keep your eyes peeled!
- Challenges completed in Haunted House
- Presents available to purchase for pumpkin patches
How do we spend Candy Corn?
In the Decoration Station and on tradepost trades.
X-Ray Specs? What?!
You heard right! This year, there’s a new feature in the Haunted House! Try our amazing new X-Ray Specs to make challenges shockingly easy to complete! |
When your spectral vision is activated, you will see your challenge eggs in a white “skull” jack-o-lantern, instead of the usual orange pumpkin, making them easier to spot and grab!
Read more about X-Ray Specs (and see more pictures) in The Haunted House article.
New collections!
We’re releasing over a dozen new collections in two locations this October, including the following special Haunted House series:
- Harbingers - new in the Scary-Go-Round (aka the spinner - read more here)
- Hauntings - new in the Ghost H(a)unt (aka dark mode)
-
Tarot event exclusive series with 21 beautiful eggs
- 14 Tarot eggs are huntable. We’ll ask you to trade these 14 eggs for the 7 that are not.
- The 7 non-huntable eggs are available through tradepost and in the Scary-Go-Round.
- These eggs inspired the new Tarot Card decorations, but they are otherwise unrelated.
Tarot event badge
To commemorate this fun special event, there's a 22nd Tarot egg featuring The Fool, the honorary 22nd major arcana. This one is a Donor Perks badge, rather than a late addition to the event series. How can I get the badge? Do we have to send Shelby the other Tarot eggs? |
New decorating options!
In addition to the pumpkin patch and spooky aquarium, there is a new Wooden Tabletop background, which you can adorn with tablecloths, candles, spell books, crystal balls, teacups, Ouija boards, and of course tarot cards! There's even a bunch of helpful house cats to get in your way - just like home!
What series are moving from NY to HH?
We're moving some collections from New Yolk to Haunted House!
The following series were green in New Yolk but are now blue in Haunted House: Prognosticator, Freaky Fossils, Carnivorous Plant, and Mythic Dog. Additionally, the event series Tasseography is now in the Haunted House Scary-Go-Round.
November Seasonal Treats
This year, we are keeping our holiday tradition of a Thanksgiving Potluck Recipe Challenge! Click that link for a high-level rundown of how the event works, and/or read below for this year's details.
If you're a regular guest at Sheldon & Shelby's dinners, you'll notice one big change this year is that they've revamped each recipe's frequency and prizes. As usual, though, some recipes are more common than others, and the rarer ones tend to have sweeter rewards.
Recipes and Rewards
To start a recipe, click on the Challenges icon to open a challenge as you normally would, or click on the green button that says "Start a Recipe Now!" from the event window. You'll be randomly assigned a special "recipe" to complete. Just like at home, you don't always get to pick what's on the menu! Remember: challenge recipes always display as hard, regardless of their actual difficulty.
All recipes and rewards have been revised and refreshed for 2024. Expect previous favorites, as well as two new options and a returning classic: Mystery Pie, Brunch Buffet, and Party Mix.
What's in them? Open a challenge and find out!
Want to complete those recipes faster? Consider using Storage Eggspress! It's like putting your challenges in an InstantPot ... or that's what we hear, anyway? |
Event Currency: Turkey Treats
What are Turkey Treats? Rewards for completing recipe challenges.
What do you do with Turkey Treats?
This year, Sheldon & Shelby want YOU to pick your recipe rewards, so they set up a "market" where you can trade these adorable little treats for other prizes, like special event eggs and more. Maybe you want to save up for one big thing (hello, new ubers!), or maybe you'd rather get more keys to churn out more recipes and keep the party going. Click on the square Turkey Treat icon in the game to check out your options. |
Limited-Edition Special Event Collection
One of the seasonal treats on offer this November is a special collection commemorating Thanksgiving Side Dishes - with a Draconic twist! There are 10 Dragonfairy Feast eggs available in the Turkey Treat Market, and if you're lucky, you might find one hunting in New Yolk. Remember to open the series with a black key!
New! Motes of Seasonal Magic
Around the world, people find magic between Thanksgiving and Christmas/ New Year -- or between Sukkot and Hanukkah, Samhain and Solstice, Harvest and Kwanzaa, or whatever other traditions they observe. |
Until the end of 2024, YOU can find little motes of magic when you hunt in Hatchlings!
What are Magic Motes good for?
Well, if the EXISTENCE OF MAGIC isn't special enough for you, save up your Motes and find the Magic Motes Market to buy a "spin" of the prize wheel. If you do, you'll get one of a dozen rotating surprises in your Inbox. You can also buy spins for friends!
Please note: any timed items will start right away, so get hopping!
What's a Mote? A tiny speck of something.
December Seasonal Treats
Santa Sheldon is back this year with treats aplenty! Travel is now open to North Pole, where coal is huntable and awarded for challenges.
Santa Sheldon's Advent Tradepost
There is an Advent calendar tradepost in North Pole. Find the tradepost by clicking on Santa Sheldon in North Pole or the coal icon in either location. There are multiple trades each day, including some exclusively for Premium members. All trades change every day at midnight GMT (aka egg release). |
Holiday Delights Event Collection
This month brings another special event series. This collection is called Holiday Delights. You'll find one every few days in the Advent tradepost, or if you're very lucky, you might catch one falling in North Pole. Here's what to look for:
Decoration Station and Present Patch
New to decorating in Hatchlings? Forgot how this works?
Start with this article: Present Patches.
Find this year's Christmas Corner below the Collection section of your profile.
We have new decorations on offer this year, including front porches, outdoor trees, sleds, winter mocktails, Kwanzaa food, a piñata, and more. Here are just a few of our new decos:
What's in presents?
You'll have to wait and find out on Christmas! But we can say that there are new ubers and new badges, as well as hard-to-find event eggs, plus of course Loaded Challenge Keys, DustBunny time, and lots of other goodies.
What new ubers have been released for hunting?
Now huntable in New Yolk and in some Christmas presents: Bust3r, the newest Sneakily Uber, and the brand new "mini-series," Royal Beastly ubers. Klaubauf, the red Sneakily Uber is now huntable in North Pole, as well. This is what the new Royal Beastlies look like:
What about the remaining Sneakily ubers? Sneakily is the first series to have 12 ubers! The first 9 are huntable now, and the remaining 3 will be huntable after Christmas.
This month's Exclusive series: Las Posadas
Las Posadas is a nine-day celebration in Mexico, other parts of Latin America, and the United States. We're honoring that tradition with a nine-egg series featuring piñatas, singing, and lots of festive foods. Open the series with a diamond key starting the first night of Las Posadas: December 16.
What collections moved from New Yolk to North Pole?
Winter Dragon and Ice Age were both blue series in New Yolk, but NOW they are both orange series in North Pole. Additionally, Cookie went from being a New Yolk green to a North Pole brown.
I need more detail about Magic Motes and what they do.
Magic Motes appear in both New Yolk and North Pole. Save them up for some seasonal surprises.
Why are there two icons? One is your balance, and one lets you spend what you've saved.
At the top of your screen in the "HUD" (heads-up display), you'll find your score and the balances of shells, Carrot Coins, Magic Motes, and Coal.
That's how you can see how many Magic Motes you've found. To spend Magic Motes, click on the black-and-blue icon at the left of your screen. |
What can I buy with Magic Motes?
There will be other items from time to time, but the item you're likeliest to see is a "prize wheel spin"—a random prize you can send to a friend or keep for yourself. When you click "Buy Now," you'll be taken to a screen where you select a recipient.
Next, you can add a gift message (or not), then review the details before finalizing the purchase. If you're buying for yourself, you can also choose the quantity. When everything looks good, click "Buy With Magic Motes" to spend the 1,000 Magic Motes and see a confirmation dialog.
Now, whoever you selected as a recipient (maybe yourself, maybe a friend) will see a notification appear on their Inbox—the icon above the Message Center mailbox. When they (or you) click "Claim," there will be a starburst and a window announcing the prize. That information is also in the Log.
As noted in the market, timed items (e.g., vacuum, Hunting Watch List, Storage Eggspress) start right away, so get hopping!
Want to refresh your memory about who sent you prizes? You have 7 days to claim items from your inbox and review your Inbox history.
