How do I link my Google login to my Hatchlings account?
Questions & Answers
Why should we do this?
What about...multiple accounts, verified emails, lost Facebook accounts, login unlinking
The first login provider we're adding is Google. If you have a gmail account, that means you have a Google login you can use and link to your Hatchlings account, if you want to.
Here is how Hatchlings will roll out that process:
- Google linking only. As we build the ability for you to log in using Google, there will be a few weeks when you can link your accounts but you can't yet use Google to log in. This is planned. It will help prevent accidental account creation. Full login ability is coming soon (early December).
- Google linking and login. When the players who want to have had a chance to link their Google logins to their Hatchlings accounts, we will add Google as another login option (in addition to Facebook and verified email).
How do I link my Google login to my Hatchlings account?
For this to work, you will need to be able to log in to both Google and Hatchlings -- you can't be locked out of either. If that's you, follow these steps:
1. First, before you go to the game's website, use a new browser window to log into the Google account you want to link to your Hatchlings account. The easiest way to do this is to go to gmail.com and make sure the top right corner shows the correct information.
2. Next, go to next.hatchlings.com and make sure you're logged into the Hatchlings account you expect (if not, log out and log in to the correct one). Click on the gear icon to open Settings, then click on the new option of Logins.
You may be prompted to log in again – please do so.
On the Login Settings screen, you'll see if you have a verified email address (read more about that here), your linked Facebook login, and an option to link a Google login.
3. Click the Link Account button, confirm it's the Google account you expect, and follow the prompts on the "Sign in with Google" pop-up.
When you visit Login Settings again, the newly linked login should appear.
If you do NOT see the Google login you just linked, try refreshing and opening Settings again. If it still doesn't show after a refresh, use the contact link in the sidebar to contact support with details.
If you get an error message, take a screenshot or capture the exact text of the error message and contact support with details.

What login options do we already have?
Right now, the main way to log in is to use your Facebook sign-in credentials. You can also use email if you have previously verified your email address with us. Enter the email address you've already verified with us, and we'll send a message with a sign-in link. Read more about verified emails here.
Why are we adding more ways to log in?
To give you more options! If you lose access to your Facebook account, we still want you to be able to log in and play! (See What if I lose access to my linked Facebook account?)
We also want to grow the community! If you have a friend who would love playing Hatchlings but doesn't have a Facebook account, this gives them another option.
Can I use Google to log into Hatchlings?
Not yet, but soon! First, you have to link your Google login to your Hatchlings account. Read the first half of this article for details about how to do that.
What if I linked the wrong Google login to my Hatchlings? Can I undo it?
Mistakes happen. If you've linked the wrong Google login to your Hatchlings account, use the "Unlink" button next to your Google login.
What if I don’t have a Google (gmail) account?
If you don't have a Google or gmail account, then you can stop reading 5 minutes ago! This login linking is optional, intended as a convenience for people who want another option to log into Hatchlings. If you don't want to, don't worry about it.
Not sure if you have a Google account? Learn how to check here.
What if I have a Google account but I don’t know the password?
You need the password. You need to be able to log in to the Google account you want to link to your Hatchlings account. If that means you need to reset the password, check out Google's help page.
What if I want to link one Google login to more than one Hatchlings account?
You can't link a single external login to multiple Hatchlings accounts (or vice versa).
To protect account security, each Hatchlings account can be linked to one Google login, one Facebook login, and one verified email.
No two Hatchlings accounts can re-use the same verified email or link to the same Google login.
What if I have multiple Hatchlings accounts using the same gmail address as the Hatchlings account email?
Don't do that. An email address can be verified for one (and only one) Hatchlings account.
Each Hatchlings account can be linked to one Google login, one Facebook login, and one verified email. No two Hatchlings account can re-use the same verified email or link to the same Google login.
I see an alert that my Google login is tied to a different Hatchlings account. How is that possible?
People can end up with multiple Hatchlings accounts by accident or because they started over with a new Facebook account, for example.
If you previously verified a gmail address for an old Hatchlings account, you won't be able to link that Google login to your current Hatchlings account without contacting support with details.
Is this gmail address related to my verified email? Do they have to be the same?
They do not have to be the same, but they can be.
If you have already verified an email address in Hatchlings, linking a Google login won't change it.
If you have NOT fully verified an email address, linking a Google login might automatically verify that email address. If that happens, you'll still be able to change and verify a different email address, if you want. Read about updating your email address here.
What if I lose access to my verified email?
As long as you have another way to log in, you can update your email address and verify a new one.
What if I lose access to my linked Facebook account and can't log in that way?
Then you'll be glad you already verified your email and/or linked a Google login!
If you have previously verified your email address with us, you can use it to log in. On the login screen, look for the Verified Email option. Enter the email address you've already verified with us, and we'll send a message with a sign-in link.
If you have previously linked a Google login, you will be able to use that to log in starting in December 2024. Follow the steps above to complete the linking process.
Unfortunately, we cannot transfer Hatchlings accounts from one Facebook account to another, nor can we transfer progress or storage between accounts. Please make sure you follow the process to recover your Facebook account. Several people have had good results following the steps in these Facebook help articles: Recover your Facebook account and Get help with a hacked account. If you are unable to recover your Facebook account, contact support with details.
What if I’m logged into Google with a different gmail address than the one I want to use, and then I try to use Google to log into Hatchlings?
Before you link your Google login to your Hatchlings account, make sure you are logged in to the correct Google/gmail account.
If you have NOT already linked the correct Google login to your Hatchlings account, and you're not logged into the right Google account, you could end up linking the wrong Google login and accidentally creating an unwanted account. Contact Support if this happens.
Once you have linked the correct Google login to your Hatchlings account, you'll still have to log into that Google account to use it for Hatchlings login.
When I logged into Google, Chrome asked me to create or switch profiles – do I need to?
No, you don't have to. If you want to learn more about using profiles to manage logins in Chrome, you can start here.
