Every player's email address should be verified in the game. This article walks you through the steps to complete that task (with or without changing your email).
First: to check, update, or verify your email address, go to Settings (the gear icon near your profile image) and select Email. You may be prompted to log in again – please do so.
The next section walks you through CHANGING your email address; if no changes are needed, you can go right to VERIFYING your email address. Or, you can skip all the way to Frequently Asked Questions (highlights include Why do I keep getting prompted to verify? and How can I use email to log in to Hatchlings?).
Changing Your Email Address
If you no longer use the same email address as when you started playing Hatchlings, use the following steps to update us. This address is where we'll send support ticket replies, round reset notifications, and any other game emails you subscribe to.
To change your email, follow the steps above to open the Email Settings dialog, and click on Change Email. That will prompt you to enter (and re-enter) a new email address.

When you enter your new email address and click Save, we will send you a verification email that contains a link you need to click within a few minutes. This step lets us confirm that you have control of your email, which helps protect your account security.

Verifying Your Email Address
You need to verify your email if you A) have never done so, or B) change your email address. This will be very important if you ever want to log in using email instead of your Facebook account.
How do you verify your email?
Simple: get a verification email from us and click on the link it contains.
How do you get that verification email? You can trigger it by changing your email address (as described above), or you can do so manually (described in the next paragraph).
If you need to verify the same old email you're already using, go to Email Settings and find the button that says either Verify Email or Resend Email. Clicking this will send an automated email that you should find and open within a couple of minutes. You need to click on the link in the message.
That verification email will look something like the example below.
Click on the link in the body of the email.
Do not reply -- we won't receive anything you try to send this way.
Can't find the verification email? You won't receive the email if you entered the wrong email address or made a typing error, so that's the first thing to check. If you know you entered your email address correctly but still don't see the verification email from us, try searching your email inbox and spam folders for noreply@hatchlings.firebaseapp.com.
Still can't find it? If you have clicked "Resend Email" multiple times, triple-checked your typing, searched your spam folder, and are sure you're not getting the verification emails, use the in-game contact link to let us know. Some players (especially people who moved to Hatchlings Next early in the transition process) have an account issue we can manually reset -- but only if we know about it.
How will you know if the verification worked? First of all, it will tell you! You'll see a confirmation dialog like this one:
Also, the "unverified" label will be replaced by a green checkmark, and you should stop receiving regular prompts to verify.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do I keep getting prompted to verify? You already have my email address!
In this case, "verify" means more than confirming; it has a specific technical meaning that involves sending, receiving, and clicking a link we generate for this purpose.
If it feels like you're constantly being asked to verify your email, let's take care of that and get it done!
Read and follow the instructions above for Verifying Your Email Address, especially the "Can't find the verification email?" and "Still can't find it?" sections. You may need to contact the Support Team, but we'll be glad to help you.
My Facebook got hacked. How can I use email to log in to Hatchlings?
First of all, we know that's a huge headache! Unfortunately, we cannot unlink/transfer Hatchlings accounts away from the original Facebook accounts that created them, nor can we transfer progress or storage between accounts. Please make sure you follow the process to recover your Facebook account. Several people have had good results following the steps in these Facebook help articles: Recover your Facebook account and Get help with a hacked account.
Second, if you have previously verified your email address with us, you can use it to log in. You can also use this log-in option even if your Facebook account is fine!
How? On the login screen, look for the Verified Email option.
Enter the email address you've already verified with us, and we'll send a message with a sign-in link.
The emails we send for you to log in look something like this:
Each link we send will only work for a limited time, so you can't save it for later.
When you need to log in with email again, you'll receive a new email with a new link.
I changed my email in Facebook. Why didn't it change in Hatchlings?
Hatchlings does use Facebook for login authentication, but we do not receive any data about your profile from them. Updates to profile photo and email address need to be done in Hatchlings settings (to update your display name, contact Support).
My question isn't answered here. How do I get help?
