What are Live Egg Hunts?
Live Egg Hunt is the name we gave our live prize drawing events, which we generally hold on Mondays. They don’t all have the same format, but the premise is the same: we stuff plastic eggs with prizes, throw them in a pool, and draw them out for participants.
We use the streaming service Twitch to “broadcast” the event to our Twitch channel.
Why watch? Here's some of what we do:
- Answer common questions
- Preview upcoming series
- Explain or demonstrate new game features, events, etc.
- Fun team banter
- Draw prizes for participants
We usually draw 3 prizes for each Live Egg Hunt EGG recipient, and mix it up by drawing single-prize winners from the pool of Live Egg Hunt TICKET-holders.
How do I watch?
Where: Our main feed is at https://www.twitch.tv/hatchlingsgames. You can watch live or after a stream is over.
When: We generally host a Live Egg Hunt on the third Monday of every month, and they are typically scheduled for 6:00 pm (US Central Time). These dates are subject to change without notice.
How to know: We also post about livestreams in the game’s global chat and Message Center (in-game mailbox), and on the Hatchlings Facebook page. We may not post every place every time, but you can keep an eye out there for event entries and announcements.
How do I participate?
Live Egg Hunts aren’t all exactly the same, but in general, we sell entries Monday before the event. You can buy one coveted egg and/or multiple drawing tickets.
- Live Egg Hunt Egg: If you are lucky enough to get one of these, you've secured you a spot in the prize drawing and will get at least a few prizes. These are available in extremely limited quantities and sell out very fast. We usually draw three prizes for people with that week’s Live Egg Hunt egg.
- Live Egg Hunt Ticket: We also offer tickets that cost less and give you a CHANCE to win a prize. It's like buying a raffle ticket: we announce which prize is up for grabs, then "draw a name" (spin a wheel) to see who wins it.
What can I win?
We're always adding prizes to keep things interesting, but here's sampling of potential prizes:
- Days and/or weeks of DustBunny, Hunting Watch List, and Storage Eggspress
- Loaded Challenge Keys and Megga Keys
- A month of unlimited travel during travel events
- Ubers and special event eggs
- Event currency and supplies (recipe ingredients, machine parts, etc.)
- 100, 500, or 1000 shells
Do I have to be present to win?
No, you do not have to be present to win the 3 prizes drawn for Live Egg Hunt Egg holders, nor do you have to be present to win most prizes given out for Live Egg Hunt tickets.
The exception is the special "grand prize" spin we often do at the end of an event, for which the winner does need to be present to claim (and name) their prize.
How do I know what I won? How do I claim my prizes?
The best way to know what you've won is to watch the stream - either live or afterward. If you can't do that, you can keep an eye on your inventories the following day, which is when we award prizes. We sometimes post a list of winners, as well.
You don't have to do anything to claim your prizes, except the coveted Egg Designer prize. If you win that, you need to tell us what you want for your egg series!
6:00 Central? What time is that where I live?
As of this article's most recent update, most of the US is observing Daylight Saving Time. The internet has lots of handy time conversion tools, but here's a chart we made, as well:
Why do the Live Egg Hunt Eggs sell out so fast?
The releases for the Live Egg Hunt Eggs are so limited that they get snapped up right away, we know!
We put so few of the eggs on offer at a time so that we can keep our commitment to draw prizes for everyone who gets one. Remember that when the eggs sell out, there are still drawing tickets.
How do I find out when tickets are on sale?
We post about livestreams in the game’s global chat and Message Center, and on the Hatchlings Facebook page. We may not post every place every time, but you can keep an eye out there for event entries and announcements.
Do I have to join Twitch to watch? What if I am having trouble with Twitch?
You do not have to create a Twitch account to watch a stream, but if you want to chat, they do require you to create an account and agree to their terms of service.
We are not able to resolve issues with Twitch login or other issues with their platform. If you need help, try starting with their help site.
