To open a fresh series in Hatchlings, you’ll need to use a key. You can do that right when you complete open collection or by using a saved key. This guide walks you through both ways. (You can also buy Turtle Keys to open new collections from the main Hatchlings Marketplace.)
Completing a Collection
The most common time to use a key to open a new collection is right after closing another collection.
When you find all the eggs in a collection, a green checkmark appears on the collection's status tracker at the bottom of your screen, and a green notification appears on the Collections icon. Click on the green checkmark, then click Complete Collection! on the clipboard to close the series.
The next screen will award you with a new key to open a new collection.
In this example, the player closed a yellow collection and received a key to open a green collection. From this screen, you could click on the green "bunny" key to choose a green series to open, or you could click the X to close the dialog and save the key for later. (You might do this if you wanted to use it in a travel location, for example.)
If you get to the collection selection screen and decide not to use the key after all, you can click the X to close this dialog, too, and save the key for later.
Closing collections is also how you level up—another way to get more keys! Here's an example:
Using a Saved Key
You might have a extra keys after closing a few collections or leveling up. If you have any unused keys in your inventory, you'll find them at the bottom of your Collections window.
When you're ready to open a new collection, click on a key to use it. If you click on a colored key but there are no more series of that color to open, you'll get a Turtle Key instead, to open any color of collection (with the exception of some unusual series).
Read more about colors and keys in their respective articles.
Buying a Key
Don't feel like waiting? You can buy a Turtle Key at any time to open a new collection. Find them in the Marketplace under Keys.
