Hatchlings' chat feature lets you interact with fellow hunters from within the game itself. Use it to make new friends, ask veteran hunters for tips, trade eggs, and get help completing challenges, closing series, or doing other in-game activities.

How do I access Chat?
Chat is in the sidebar at the left hand side of the game screen. If you don't see it when the game loads, you can access it by clicking on the tab with an arrow. It looks like this ---> |
Before you can use chat, you'll have to agree to some rules.
Once you've entered the chat, you'll see chat messages in the middle of the sidebar, and a box underneath for typing your messages.
Below the text entry box, you'll see how to choose which chat you're viewing and participating in.
There are always chat options for Network (private to your network) and Global (all players). Sometimes there are special chats for travel locations like Easter Island and Egglantic City, and you may see a toy die to indicate a chat dedicated to games or contests among players.
You can switch between the chats by using the icons at the bottom of the tab. If you have clicked to view a chat, then click away, you will see notifications for the chats you've clicked away from.
How can I interact with other players in chat?
Click another player’s NAME to open their profile.
Click elsewhere in their chat entry to reveal information about the player and actions you can take.
After you click someone's chat entry, you'll see a "card" with the player's name and network at the top, followed by their score and rank for the current round (month).
To report a user for inappropriate chat conduct, click the red flag icon () on their chat card. They won't know they've been reported, and they certainly won't know who reported them.
To ignore a user, click the red “no” symbol () on their chat card. After ignoring someone, you will no longer see what they post in chat. This does not prevent them from seeing your messages. This option is for players who aren't necessarily violating chat rules, but whose comments you don't want to see. If you want to "un-ignore" someone, you can manage your list of ignored users from Friend Manager, at the top of the sidebar.
To copy a user’s ID to your device’s clipboard, click the red id icon on their chat card. This feature is useful if you’re trying to share eggs or send a present to someone who is not on your friend list.
To send a user a friend request, click the red Add Friend button on their chat card.
If you can't see the bottom row of icons, try reducing the font size by using the little letters between chat messages and the text entry box.
How do I report abuse on chat? Can I block someone?
We strongly encourage all Hatchlings players to notify us if they see or experience a verbal assault, spam, or bullying within the chat rooms.
If you see anything offensive posted in the chat, don't hesitate to 'flag' that comment. The person won't know they've been reported, let alone know who reported them.
The Hatchlings team reviews every flag in our system to determine whether or not a player should be temporarily or permanently banned from the chat; we do not take bullying or inappropriate comments lightly.
You also have the option to 'ignore' a user if you'd prefer not to see their comments. This option is for players who aren't necessarily violating chat rules, but whose comments you don't want to see. If you do this, they will not know you can't see their comments. Ignoring someone does not prevent them from seeing your chat messages.
If you want to "un-ignore" someone, you can manage your list of ignored users from Friend Manager, at the top of the sidebar (circled below).
